it’s drivin’ me nuts

That’s what the pirate said when questioned about the rudder wheel attached to the fly of his pants, y’know: “Arrr, it’s drivin’ me nuts.”

That’s how I feel about the syndication feed issues I’ve been having. I give up. I tried to use a clever hack that Sterling came up with to integrate feedburner RSS management with the way RSS and Atom feeds work on SOB, “seamlessly”, but it seems to have broken recently. It was mostly working for a while. Now it’s entirely not-working.

Yeah, I give up.

Some of you, if you’ve subscribed to this via RSS or Atom feeds (including people watching the LiveJournal syndication set up by ClueByFour), probably think I haven’t written anything in weeks. I have. It just wasn’t being displayed via the syndication feeds.

Well, I’ve (hopefully successfully) replaced my cleverly hacked syndication stuff with uncleverly default files instead. Stuff should work now. I just won’t have syndication stats to ogle. Better that youse guys can read this stuff than that I know just how few of you can access it while it’s broken.

If you want to see what you missed, maybe you should mosey on over to SOB at http://sob.apotheon.org at your earliest convenience.

  1. I was getting your posts fine all along via ?feed=rss2

  2. My syndication at TR stopped after the Rocketboom thing.

My LJ syndication stopped after “one map, one flashlight, no ass in sight”.

Registered user medullaoblongata hasn’t been getting any for a while (not sure when it stopped for her).

Yours is the only syndication that I know of that hasn’t stopped getting updates — and I’m beginning to think that would probably have changed, given time. I likely screwed something up when I edited the RSS files, and I decided it was probably more important to take care of the inability of feeds to get updates than to experiment with the setup until it worked with feedburner.

  3. atom feeds works nice for me. The rss feed stopped a while ago (two or three entries before the bike entry), but the atom feed seems happy.

  4. Yeah . . . I haven’t really checked on the atom feeds to see if they work. I just figured that since the RSS syndications seem to be failing one by one, it’s time to fix something, so I “fixed” everything. Better safe than sorry, as they say.
