    Still don’t know who the guy is, though. All the other links are Reagan v. Walsh, or talk about Lawrence Walsh and Ronald Reagan. So, um, who was he?

    Yes and no. Not as much as either my father’s father or my mother’s adoptive father, but he did have some influence on me. Probably the most memorable thing he ever said to me was “When are you going to settle down and become an engineer?”

    While I didn’t get into engineering in any manner he would surely have meant, I did eventually end up headed far more in that direction than I would have thought back when he said it — and I seem to be aiming very gradually more in that direction over time.

    I liked him, in any case.
