No wonder I get so frustrated with people!

(13:00:02) Ogre: I think we wouldn’t have to stand on the street corner too long to find someone who thinks it’s the government’s job to make people behave.

(13:00:14) Me: True.

(13:00:25) Me: That doesn’t mean they’ve consciously thought it through to the point that I have.

(13:00:55) Me: I think a lot of the world’s problems could be eliminated if people just consciously thought through the motivations and assumptions behind their own opinions.

(13:01:13) Me: The problem is that nobody wants to do that, for the most part.

(13:01:22) Me: I’ve sorta made it my life’s purpose to do so.


  1. It’s not only that they don’t want to, it’s that they often don’t know how to.

    But even if they knew how, they still wouldn’t want to. Most people’s opinions are matters of taste, not to be spoiled by facts.
