Chad Perrin: SOB

3 October 2009

I “upgraded” WordPress again.

Let me know if anything doesn’t seem to be working quite right. I think I (properly) re-added all my usual fixes to the annoying damned way WordPress does things, but wading through the spaghetti PHP in WordPress is a bit like swimming in day-old literal spaghetti — and leaves me feeling just as slimy, and just as uncertain that I found all of the rotten Easter eggs I dove in to find in the first place.

This is me, testing . . . ellipsis . . . points. . . .

Really . . .

  1. Still no preview button? Heh.

  2. Alas, no. The comment preview plugin I had before is still broken so that nobody will be able to post comments, and I haven’t bothered finding a new one to use instead. Part of the problem is that these days it seems like fucking everybody wants to use a “live preview” feature, so there aren’t any simple, static comment preview plugins I can find before I get tired of searching, aside from the one that broke way back when. I don’t want people with JavaScript turned off or who use really slow machines to be essentially barred from posting comments here, so I avoid the “live preview” plugins.

  3. I don’t mind not having a preview, to be quite honest.

  4. It looks ok to me here in Stuttgart. It loaded just fine in Thunderbird, and displays ok in IE8. (it’s an XP machine, there’s a reason, best not to ask) Anyway Greetings from over here. I hope all is well with you and yours’. -d

  5. Joseph:

I really wish there was a preview option. It’d help people with checking their formatting and last-minute proofreading.

Thunderbird? Are you using an email client to view SOB?

  6. Chad: Reasonable enough. As for using Thunderbird, you can via the RSS & Newsgroups option. I use it to follow one blog and two news feeds.
