Thanks, Grandma

This morning, I woke to the sound of my cellphone “ringing”. Telephones don’t really ring any longer, but that’s still what we call it.

It was my father. He informed me that my grandmother had passed away.

For the second time since mine became the name at the top of TechRepublic’s IT Security “blog”, I wrote an article that recalled my grandmother. It was called, quite unimaginatively, More about what my grandmother taught me.

She taught me quite a bit — a lot of it by example. I don’t really know how to convey that very effectively right now, and am not sure I’d want to even if I did know how.

Her death was a long time coming. I think, if she had lived any longer, it would have been more cruelty than mercy.

I’m going to be traveling a bit this month, some of it related to my grandmother’s memorial service. I don’t know how much writing I’ll do during that time. Consider this fair warning: I don’t know how interesting I’ll be in this writing space.

Carry on.
