Deficit Spending Bill

The so-called “stimulus” bill passed today. Apparently, “stimulus” is a euphemism for “deficit spending”, which Democrats have long held up as a sign of the evils of Reaganomics, but now support it under a more politically correct name.

It passed in the Senate today. It is a more-than-1000 page document full of pork. It squeals like a pig, and that’s all it does — other than increase deficit spending to unprecedented levels. I’m pretty sure nobody in the Senate has read the whole thing, since it wasn’t even available until midnight last night. Maybe Ron Paul read it, but he would have had to skim through that many pages of pig feces to finish it by now.

Knowing how harmful this bill has to be, and how it’s basically entirely filled out by nothing but special interest nonsense and campaign contributor kickbacks — and having the experience of passing the previous deficit spending bill last year — there is no fucking excuse for having passed this thing. Every motherfucker in the Senate who voted for it, including both of Maine’s Republicans and a Republican from Pennsylvania as well as every last watery-blooded Senate Democrat, is downright evil. If you believe evil can exist the real world, believe it owns the Senate now. There is no goddamn way anyone with an IQ higher than 70 in the halls of power in DC can possibly think that any piddling bit of potentially positive effect on our economy can overcome the inevitable mountain of harmful crap in a bill that size.

. . . and they didn’t even read the fucking thing!

Anyone who tells you it’s a good bill, or even an acceptable bill, is lying, because (having never read it) they simply cannot know it’s not distilled essence of evil. It’s a pretty good bet that it is, in fact.

So much for transparency. So much for economic recovery. So much for cleaning up government after prying the Bush administration out with a crowbar. This happened on Obama’s watch, and it will probably do more damage to this country than the last five or six years of ill-advised war, all within the first month and a half of his administration.

As much as I liked the promise to uphold his promise that Guantanamo would be closed, and the use of a Creative Commons license on government Websites, that doesn’t mean very much after this. He’s going to need to get Hercules and Superman to help him out if he’s going to dig himself out of this pit of karmic debt into which the Democratic Party has thrown itself today.

addendum: The US economy has been described as “the engine of the world economy”. In the absence of any words in the English language that can adequately describe the corruption and stupidity (neither is enough — both are necessary to pull this off) in Congress necessary to sit there putting bullets in the engine block because they heard a valve tap as the real estate market crashed, I provide you with a picture of a girl getting ready to blow her own brains out. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and since 999 of those words would have to be obscenities to properly convey how I feel about this, a picture’s probably the better option.
