Xmas 2008: My Life as a Monty Haul Campaign

It has been another happy holiday season for me — happier than last year’s, actually, considering the fact I didn’t get bit by a dog this time. Yet. Knock on wood.

I won’t go into the details of events (at this time), but I’ll detail some of the more interesting gifts:

Books I Knew I Wanted

These were books I actually had on my Amazon wishlist.

  • Alongside Night by J. Neil Schulman
  • Building Walking Bass Lines by Ed Friedland
  • The Concise Encyclopedia of Economics edited by David R. Henderson
  • Pathfinder Chronicles: Campaign Setting by a whole slew of people (and, actually, is kinda more my SigO‘s book than mine)
  • Pathfinder Chronicles: Guide to Korvosa by Mike McArtor
Used Book Exchange

My SigO, her sister, and I all participated in our first annual Christmas used book exchange. We decided that we’d each pick out two used books for each of the others, and the following four were the books I got this year.

  • The Four Just Men by Edgar Wallace
  • Prisons by Mary Lee Settle
  • Rosemary’s Baby by Ira Levin
  • Women in Love by D. H. Lawrence

  • “I don’t know anything about music. I’m just the bass player.” This was on a my Amazon wishlist as well.
  • “I’m a monster!”, inspired by a gnome and tiefling interview video — one of a series of videos that is possibly the only good thing to come out of D&D 4E. I totally did not see this gift coming, but I sure am glad I got it.

When you’re done watching that gnome and tiefling interview, by the way, the mind flayer interview makes for a great sequel. There’s a beholder interview, too, but I didn’t find it nearly as amusing.

There was other stuff, too. All of it is useful or edible, but the above was the stuff that I figured might be of interest to readers.
