NaNoWriMo 2008

Well . . . tonight marks the beginning of another National Novel Writing Month for me. My first was in 2003, and I’ve done this every year since then. That makes 2008 my sixth NaNoWriMo. Does that make me an old-timer, yet?

This year will involve some abnormal pressures. I have a higher upcoming workload than I have for the last two years, plus I’m making a trip to California for the last nine days of the month, all of which will really eat into my fiction-writing time — or I’ll have to sacrifice something else above and beyond what I usually give up in the month of November. Options include things like (even more) sleep, RPG sessions, and talking to anyone I know who isn’t involved in NaNoWriMo themselves. Unfortunately, because of the extra work projects I have piling up, I can’t really sacrifice talking to everyone I know — some of them are people for whom I’m working on those projects. I’m also going to try a really challenging plot for this year’s NaNoWriMo, which might make it difficult for me to keep up the word count.

Wish me luck.
